Sharkskin Tuxedo: It Was Either Someone Buy Tumblr or There Be No Tumblr -
hero-of-time-winds-and-legend:
Okay, so, hearing that Yahoo has bought Tumblr, I decided to do a little more digging.
Apparently Tumblr was running out of money. This means that, if someone didn’t buy Tumblr, like Yahoo, Tumblr would be completely shut down. No more blogging. No more gifs. No more pictures. No more posts.
So, in light of that news, ask yourself, what would you prefer, Tumblr being completely shut down or Tumblr being kept open with the possibility of some changes being made?
According to this article, Tumblr will continue to be mostly independant, which means that the chances are that not a whole lot will change. There’s likely to be some integrating into the Yahoo main hub, which will include emails and messenger, but beyond that I imagine Tumblr will largely stay the same.
Also, the issue with advertisements. According to this article, the way that adverts are put into Tumblr is done in a way that we actually see very little of them, and the adverts are very targeted. This is why Yahoo doesn’t care about their advertisers and porn mixing. So, they’re not going to get rid of the porn either.
Lastly, you’re going to have to face the fact that Tumblr is now owned by Yahoo. I may be being blunt, but it’s true. Tumblr has been owned by Yahoo for 2 days now. You can’t change it, you can’t stop it, it’s too late. What I suggest is that you all wait, see what’s ACTUALLY going to happen rather than throwing around random speculation that has no basis in fact, and then, after any changes have been made (if there even will be any) decide if you want to keep using Tumblr or not. However, I’m 87% certain that it won’t be as bad as some of you seem to think it will be.Can everyone read this and please shut the fuck up thank u
